Remove Holes

Before After

Remove Holes cleans up the raster image by removing white holes from it.

Remove holes from the whole image

1. Click or select Raster Effects Menu > Clean > Remove Holes.
2. In the Preview Window, zoom into the image so that you will be able to clearly see the effects of the hole removal.
Warning: If you display a large section of your raster image in the Preview Window this function may operate very slowly.
3. Select a hole size in pixels by moving the slider in the dialog.

As you move the slider you will see holes smaller than the hole size disappearing in the Preview Window.

4. Zoom and pan around the image in the Preview Window to make sure the hole size you have chosen is appropriate to other parts of the image. Take especial care to ensure you have not removed small holes that are supposed to be there, like the white triangle in the upper half of the letter A.

Adjust the hole size if necessary.

5. Ensure the Apply changes to Full Image option is selected.
6. Click OK.

Scan2CAD removes all holes that are smaller than the hole size you have selected.

Click to undo.

Remove holes from part of the image

If you only want to remove holes from part of the image, choose the part you want to remove holes from by windowing it or zooming into it, then follow the steps above. In Step 5, ensure the Apply changes to Full Image option is not selected.

A useful tool for removing individual large holes from an image is Flood.
