Lloyds Building, London
This Richard Rogers design was built 20 years ago. Its uncluttered space is achieved from having staircases, lifts, electrical power conduits and water pipes on the outside.
The Bryant Park Hotel, New York
The Bryant Park Hotel is an Art Deco skyscraper in Manhattan New York. It was conceived by architects John Howells and Raymond Hood in 1924 and originally designed as The American Radiator Building, later becoming a luxury hotel in 1998. Black brick symbolises coal, gold bricks symbolise fire and ornate marble and black mirrors decorate other parts of the façade.
Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista Arkansas
The Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista Arkansas was created by renowned architect Euine Fay Jones in 1991. Boasting loafty wooden heights and grand doorways, Jones was awarded the American Institute of Architecture’s highest award, the AIA Gold Medal.
Busan Opera House, Korea
The design of the Busan Opera House was created to provide a variety of experiences to the audience. In the design team’s own words, “To achieve this goal, we developed a transformable ‘cylinder’ not only for stage/chamber function, but also for structural stability. Multiple disks in the ‘cylinder’ can move vertically depending on the type and size of performance you need and numbers of performances at the same time”.
Market Hall in Ghent
This magnificent market hall in Ghent, Belgium was created by architects Marie-José Van Hee and Robbrecht & Daem. The exterior is finished in wood and protected by glass that reflects the natural light.
