DWG Files

The DWG file format was created by Autodesk to serve as the native file format for their flagship CAD software, AutoCAD. Since its beginnings in 1982, it has evolved to include a wide range of vector entities, and now supports both two- and three-dimensional designs. Its primary purpose is still to be used with AutoCAD, though other programs also support the format too. Scan2CAD launched full support for the DWG format in 2016. This means that it’s now possible to convert from raster, PDF, or DXF to DWG using Scan2CAD. Learn more about this file format in this section.
