Converting raster images for CNC

Before jumping into converting your designs start with this tutorial to learn how to get the best results.

2. Clean the image

Most images should be cleaned before they are converted. Otherwise you may have a poor quality conversion.

In this tutorial we clean a JPEG image which has many problematic areas including image distortion, speckles and holes.

3. Convert to vector

Now it’s time to convert the image to vector. We’ll learn how to set the appropriate vectorization settings for the best conversion results.

4. Vector editing

After converting your design you may want to neaten up parts of it. In this tutorial we look at some simple vector editing features.

5. Input scaling/dimensions

Ensure your converted vector design has the correct scaling/dimensions. In this tutorial we’ll demonstrate the two methods for assigning scaling/dimensions.

6. Save vector file

Save your vector file to any popular vector format such as .DXF or G-code formats such as .CNC , .NC and .TAP.
