Our story: Why we created CAD Answers

Over the past two decades, Scan2CAD has attracted engineers and designers from all over the world who want to convert their designs for CAD and CNC. During this time, the one constant has been that the CAD world has continued to innovate and evolve—fast.

The rate of innovation is a brilliant characteristic of the industry, but it creates a lot of unknowns. From the mass of new and emerging software through to the growing popularity of 3D printing, our industry is changing rapidly. With this, new questions are constantly arising, and there’s always more to learn.

Over the years, many of these questions have come through to the Scan2CAD support team, and although the questions may not be related to our product, we’ve always tried to point people in the right direction.

We’ve spent time considering how we could elegantly solve this problem. We’ve learned from past experience that it’s very easy to create an overly complex solution for any problem. The trick is creating a simple solution. Perhaps Albert Einstein put it best when he said: “Everything should be made as simple as possible. But not simpler”.

To that end, we focused on bringing about the most straightforward solution to dealing with the mounting questions in the fields of CAD and CNC—ask an expert, get an answer. Simple.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve ever worried that your question was ‘too dumb’ to just ask a colleague—nor if it seems so advanced that even Google can’t find a suitable answer. At CAD Answers, we welcome any and all questions about CAD and CNC.

We’ve pulled together a small group of experts in CAD and CNC, ensuring that your questions will be answered quickly and accurately by masters of the field. If the demand for CAD Answers grows, then we’ll respond by quickly growing our expert base.

CAD Answers is an exciting experiment, and we’re inviting you to take part. We’d love you to be one of the first to ask our experts a question. Go ahead—ask us anything.
