Load a DXF/DWG file

1. Click or select File Menu > Vector > Load.
2. Select DXF or DWG in the Files of Type section of the dialog.
3. Select the DXF/DWG file you want to load from the dialog.
4. Click Open.

The DXF/DWG file is displayed on the screen and its name appears as a DXF file type in Scan2CAD’s Title Bar.

When you load a DXF/DWG  file into Scan2CAD all layer and block information is lost.
Scan2CAD’s DXF/DWG load is not intended to be comprehensive. It will load most DXF/DWG files but it will only load those parts of the files that it supports – lines, polylines, polygons, polypolygons, arcs, splines (Bezier curves), polybeziers, circles and text.
When you save a DXF file from Scan2CAD v8 the scaling information you enter into the Vector Scale Settings dialog is stored in the DXF file.

If you load the DXF file back into Scan2CAD it will automatically be converted back to the scale of the original raster image so that it can be superimposed over it. The scaling information is passed to the Vector Scale Settings dialog for subsequent use or modification.

If you do not want a DXF file scaled to the original raster when reading it back into Scan2CAD, press Ctrl+Shift+I before loading the DXF file. If you do this, each unit in the DXF file (i.e. each mm or inch) will be mapped to one pixel.

If you load a DXF file that does not contain Scan2CAD scaling information because it was produced by another version of Scan2CAD or by another program, you can scale it to a raster image by typing scaling information into the Vector Scale Settings dialog, then pressing Ctrl+Shift+S before loading or merging the file.

If a DXF/DWG file is produced by another CAD package, it may not have the default origin set to 0,0 which will lead to incorrect display problems.

Pressing Ctrl+Shift+Z before loading the DXF/DWG file will ensure that the correct 0,0 origin is applied to the vectors as they are loaded.

If a DXF/DWG file is produced by another CAD package, it may not have the full extents set which will lead to partial display problems.

Pressing Ctrl+Shift+E after loading the DXF/DWG file will ensure that the image extents are set to fully display all vectors that are loaded.
