Save the palette

The palette is the range of colors in an image. You can save the palette of a raster image and then apply it to another image.

1. Select Palette Menu > Save Current Palette.
2. Type a name for the palette into the File Name part of the dialog.

Palettes are stored as files with .Pal (palette) extensions.

3. Click Save.

Be aware that saving a palette and then applying it to another image using Palette Menu > Select Palette Menu > Load Palette may not give you the results you are expecting.

This is because when you create a palette you normally go through several steps of palette reduction and adjustment before arriving at that palette. But when you load a palette the colors on the image are mapped directly to the colors on the palette without intermediate steps. Because the methods of arriving at the palette are different, the effects are likely to be different.
