Scan2CAD supports the following raster formats.
To save hard disk space it is advisable to use a compressed format such as TIFF rather than an uncompressed format such as BMP.
(Usually too poor quality for conversion so not recommended.) If File Menu > Raster > Options > GIF Use Interlace is checked when you save a raster image as a GIF file, the image is saved as an interlaced GIF file.
(Usually too poor quality for conversion so not recommended.) When you save a raster image as a JPEG file, the image is saved using the compression level currently set in File Menu > Raster > Options > JPEG Photo Quality. The lower the compression level the smaller the file and the lower its quality. A compression level of 75 is typically a good balance between compression level and image quality.
When you save a raster image as a PNG file it is saved according to the settings currently selected in File Menu > Raster > Options > PNG. These are: Use Interlace – if this is checked, the image is saved as an interlaced PNG file. Compression – the higher the compression the smaller the file and the lower its quality. The default compression is 6. Filters – the default is None. Sub, Up, Average and Paeth can be selected in any combination. All selects Sub, Up, Average and Paeth.
TIFF fax group 3 and fax group 4 files can only be black and white. They cannot be grayscale or color. Scan2CAD does support multi-image TIFF files. Scan2CAD does not support tiled TIFF files.
