The Preview Window

 

Some Scan2CAD functions have a dialog that includes a Preview Window. The Preview Window allows you to preview the effect of changing values in the dialog. You can zoom and pan around the Preview Window to view the effect of changes on different parts of the image.

 

Warning: If you display a large section of your raster image in the Preview Window the function may operate very slowly.

 

 

Zoom into the Preview Window

To zoom in at the current cursor position, click in the Preview Window then scroll your mouse wheel forward.
To zoom in around the Preview Window center click .
To zoom into a selected area, click then drag a rectangle around the area you want to zoom into.

 

Zoom out of the Preview Window

To zoom out at the current cursor position, click in the Preview Window then scroll your mouse wheel backward.
To zoom out around the Preview Window center click .
To zoom out so you can see the whole image (Zoom Extents) click .

 

Pan around the Preview Window

Press your mouse scroll wheel down then drag your mouse.
Click , position your cursor in the Preview Window, press your left mouse button down and drag your mouse.
Use the Preview Window Scroll Bars.

 

Apply changes to Full Image option

If there is an Apply changes to Full Image option in the dialog, you can either apply dialog changes to the whole image or to part of it.

 

To apply dialog changes to the whole image:

Ensure that the Apply changes to Full Image option is selected.

 

To apply dialog changes to part of the image:
1. Before selecting the function with the Preview Window, choose the part of the image you want to apply dialog changes to by windowing it or zooming into it.
2. Select the function. The area you selected is displayed in the Preview Window. As you zoom and pan around the Preview Window the area you selected is marked by a green rectangle.
3. Ensure that the Apply changes to Full Image option is not selected.
4. When you click OK to exit the function, dialog changes are only applied to the area you selected.

 

Pick Color display and selection

Pick Color display and selection is only relevant when you have a color image loaded. It does not apply to all functions with Preview Windows. See individual function descriptions.

 

If a Pick Color is selected it is displayed under the Preview Window:

 

You can select a Pick Color from within a dialog with a Preview Window by clicking then clicking on the color you want in the Preview Window.

 

Color Layers display and selection

Color Layers display and selection is only relevant when you have a color image loaded. It does not apply to all functions with Preview Windows. See individual function descriptions.

 

If  Color Layers are activated red green and blue colors are displayed under the Preview Window:

You can select, activate and deactivate Color Layers from within a dialog with a Preview Window by clicking the Select Color Layers button. This accesses the Select Color Layers dialog.
